VP of Capital Markets

Here’s the problem. Owning a home is supposed to give people control, security, and comfort as well as the opportunity to build personal wealth. Unfortunately, homeownership today is a different story, and we get that. Too many people are stressed out by the burden of their home, have all their wealth locked up in their home, or can’t buy a home at all. Project HomeTap is the working title for a VC backed startup with the ambitious goal of creating a compelling alternative to today’s mortgage debt.

We make equity investments in homes – the homeowner cashes in on the value of their home today and we are paid out whenever the homeowner decides to sell. If businesses can take equity, why not homeowners?

To introduce this new financial opportunity to homeowners, we're simultaneously introducing a new asset class to investors.  To do so, we are looking for someone to join us at the ground level to develop HomeTap’s fund strategy to deliver capital to homeowners while scaling a platform with sufficient funds from investors.

If you want to work with a serially successful team, are excited about the potential of structuring a new asset class, and are happy to make Boston your home, this opportunity is for you.  As an early member of the management team, this individual will be involved in key strategic decision-making for the company.

The right person will have:

  • 5+ years of financial analysis and/or fund strategies experience at a real estate investment fund, hedge fund, PE firm, asset management company or related field
  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field – MBA and/or CFA is a bonus
  • A deep understanding of capital markets, fund formation, structure, and fund management
  • Ability to manage and coordinate all financial functions including: accounting, budgeting, financial modeling and compliance
  • Interest in the real estate industry
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial passion and creativity
  • A strong fit with our cultural views
  • Interest in moving to Boston
  • Leadership skills and experience

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement a fund strategy optimizing for homeowner access to capital and investor access to returns
  • Correspond with investors and consumers to process all capital deployment and distributions
  • Develop and direct accounting, budgeting, financial forecasting, tax strategies and investor relations
  • Participate in key strategic decision-making as a part of the early management team

Equally important to the candidate’s skill-sets is the candidate’s fit within our business.  We are looking for someone who is entrepreneurial, fast-paced, data-driven, a creative thinker who looks for opportunities within challenges, has a competitive drive to win, values collaboration and is professional in demeanor.

The VP of Capital Markets will be thought of and treated as part of the founding team from an equity perspective, with the benefit of being able to earn cash compensation as well.
